Festivals update

So, the last few days I've been looking online for festivals to go to this year. I'm pretty excited. I've found a Tomato Fest (not a fan of tomatoes but I'll grub on the salsa), Salmon Fest, and a Japanese Culture and Food Bazarr that I didn't previously know about! YAY! I'm excited about festivities this coming summer and fall. :)

Air Show

Best freebie all weekend: Air Show! Free admission, free parking, amazingness!
I'm not sure if I'd ever been to an air show. If I had, it was when I was a kid. I work near an air base so I got to see a lot of the practice runs last summer when they were getting ready for their show... does not even compare to actually going! It was just a great time. Friendly Air Force boys everywhere, planes and jets that you could walk in and on, and the actual air show in the sky, just amazing! Not to mention just being around all the people that serve our country and seeing the camaraderie between them all and my Dad (he's a Vietnam Vet). It was just good stuff.  Here's a pic of me with one of the friend Air Force boys on top of a jet :)

More samples and freebies :)

Today included some more freebies, as well as some great time spent with Mom :) Today's score included a free sinus rinse that came in the mail. Then we were off to the mall where we scored at Bare Escentuals: reusable totes, some skin care samples, and a cute little make up bag. We also got fragrance samples from Victoria's Secret and Thierry Mugler. Love these little purse size bottles. :)

Freebie Friday!

Who doesn't love free stuff? Especially when it's useful free stuff!  Came home from work today and there was a box that included all this stuff for free :) I especially love the reusable canvas lunch tote :) Can't wait to try some of the snack bars. :)

Back to work...

So, I've been crazy sick for the last week and a half. Missed a solid week of work :( Finally back and fully coherent today! It feels good to be back. I love the conversations I have with my co-workers, I'm fortunate to work with some great peeps. I also got some new assignments today, yay for always mixing things up. I would be bored to tears and probably near the brink of quitting if I walked in every day knowing exactly what I was going to be doing day in and day out. I'm looking forward to new things coming up. Work is good :)

I love Festivals

Festivals are so much fun! The food, the people, the exhibits, the atmosphere, the travels to get there... I love it all. Let's see how many fests I end up at this year.
So far, I went to Earth Fest in Roseville April 16 and will be going to Berry Fest with my Mom during Mother's Day weekend. YAY!

Audio Books!

I know, I know, I'm a bit behind the times on this one. One of my managers has been talking about listening to audio books during her commute. This sounded like a pretty great plan considering I haven't been making as much time as I'd like to read. But years and years and years ago I tried listening to a book on tape and it was pretty bad. Super mono-tone and boooooring! So, I was a bit skeptical. But I figured it was worth a shot. So, I got one, downloaded it onto my HTC G2 (best phone ever, by the way) and started listening. I LOVE IT!!! My first selection is Finger Lickin' Fifteen by Janet Evanovich. If you are familiar with her work you know you can't really go wrong and the audio book is just as good as the written kind! I cannot wait to go to the library and check out more audio books! YAY!

Japanese treats!

So, I had last Friday off of work and decided to go check out a Japanese grocery store. I was going because the website said they had a mini Daiso inside. SCORE! I got there and the Daiso wasn't too exciting. But they did have a great assortment of Japanese food goodness. I found red bean ice cream and biscuit things. As well as just red beans that I can add so anything I want. I think I'm going to try them on waffles this weekend.
I also finally found Matcha Green Tea, yum! and even some Matcha Green Tea chocolate chip cookies. Double yum! All in all it was a pretty successful trip. I also bought some frozen snack food items. Once I try them I'll let you know what I think.

The long and short of it.

My hair is so long right now. It's funny how it happens. I've always had longer hair, you'd think I'd be used to it. But every few months it happens, I'll look in the mirror and suddenly think, ahhhh! Where did all that hair come from!? Then I feel like I need to cut it, immediately! Debating as to if I should go shorter and/or get bangs. I think I also want to add some black underneath. We'll see what happens on Sunday! :)

New chair!

So, I've been at my current job for 8 months and have been sitting in a crappy, crappy chair since day one. At my 3 month review, I ask for a new chair. Boss says sure. 3-4 weeks go by. We finally go shopping for a new chair. While shopping we end up at an upscale furniture store. Boss finds a chair that she loves... that cost $600. Boss decides we both need this chair. Owner of the company hmms and haaaas about it. Meanwhile I'm sitting in a craptastic chair that causes a sensation similar to a hot rod being pushed horizontally through the middle of my spine everyday around noon. Owner still can't make up mind. ... ... ... Boss finally gets approval. YAY! Chairs will be here in 6-8 weeks! SIGH! waiting, waiting, waiting... forget about chair. Take a day off of work... guess what shows up. YAY new chair! FINALLY!
Day 1 in new chair. AMAZING! Seriously, I feel like a whole new person.
Happy Employee. :)

Here it is

Time to start writing for whoever wants to read on a regular basis. I'm a pretty random girl so this blog will consist of a little bit of everything. Topics will likely include: food, fun, hiking, the discounts I score, my crazy family, work, book choices, dating stories, crafty bits, and more. So sit back and laugh and sometimes cry with me.
